Pluto
By Nikki Martinez
Pluto is the only dwarf planet in our solar system. It is smaller than Earth’s moon. Pluto is such an interesting topic! It really makes some people wonder about our planets. Pluto is a very strange planet since it has so many facts that can be mind blowing. Pluto is just amazing since it has such a cold atmosphere and since it is so cold. Since Pluto is the last planet in our solar stem we don’t know all the facts about Pluto, but the ones we do know are very interesting.
Pluto is the only dwarf planet in our solar system that we know of. Pluto is a grayish color from pictures, but it is normally a brownish blue color on its atmosphere. Pluto is 7,742,782 feet and 1 466 miles. The diameter of Pluto is 2,360 kilometers. Earth is 6 times bigger that Pluto, that makes Pluto very small compared to Pluto. Pluto’s diameter can fit in the United States, that’s how big Pluto is. Humans have no idea if Pluto has any rings because we do not have the technology to see that far away from Earth. People on Earth cannot see Pluto clearly. At this moment in time we are not sure if Pluto has rings but it could. Pluto is even smaller that the moon. Since Pluto is so far from earth, it would take a radio transmission 5 hours to get to earth. The length of a year is 248 Earth years.
Pluto is so cold, unlike Earth it has one usual temperature around -380 Fahrenheit or below that. Pluto has no form of Earth that has ever been to Pluto yet. There is a space probe on its way but it will take longer for Pluto will receive the space probe. The orbital rotation of Pluto is about 6 days. When people discovered that Pluto was a small planet, there was a debate about if Pluto was an asteroid or a dwarf planet. Pluto has no sort of life forms at all. If you would like to know what your weight on Pluto you can just multiply your weight by 0.03. The atmosphere is made out of Nitrogen, carbon monoxide.
Pluto was discovered on February 18th, 1930 at the Lowell Observatory in Arizona. Pluto’s name was suggested by an 11 year old school girl in England in the 1930s, named Venetia Burney. She was into ancient mythology and history. Pluto is named after the roman god of the underworld. Pluto was going to be named Planet X but the public thought it should be similar to the other planets. Some people think that Pluto is just one of a satellite that escaped Neptune's gravitational pull. A satellite is a object (like a moon) that rotates around another object. I strongly do not believe Pluto is not a planet. I know some people do believe that but I don’t because it is in orbit around the sun and Pluto has moons that orbit around Pluto so I do think it should be called a regular/average planet, like all of the other planets.
Pluto has three moons called Charon, Nix, and Hydra. Pluto’s moons where discovered in 2005. Hydra is brighter than Nix. There is no life on Pluto that we know of at this moment in time. Pluto has no plants or life forms. We have no evidence that there are volcanoes on Pluto. Pluto is made of rock and ice. You would not find much on Pluto besides rock, dust, and dirt. Pluto has a lot of dirt. We are not sure if Pluto has life but we are eager to know.
Pluto is such an interesting planet. Anybody would learn so much about Pluto just reading this. Pluto is a very interesting planet. I would love to know more about Pluto because it so interesting and fun. Pluto has so many funny characteristics and they really make you think about the planets and other worlds. If Pluto was any more fun we may have to go travel to Pluto soon! Pluto is so amazing and makes people wonder when we will get news on Pluto. This planet teaches so much! I would visit Pluto if I had the chance.

Venus
By Nikki Martinez
Venus is a very strange planet. Thick Clouds cover Venus. You can even see Venus from earth sometimes. Venus is very odd and sometimes strange. Venus is the second planet from the sun. Venus is the closest planet to the sun besides Mars. Venus is flaming hot too. Venus has no characteristics close to earth what so ever. Venus is not a gas giant like Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune (even know it does have gas). Venus is easily mistaken for gas giants even know it is not a gas giant.
Venus is a red, yellow, and orange color. Venus has no rings. Venus has some sort of magnetic field. A magnetic field is a circle around a planet that attracts rocks and debris. The surface features of Venus are high mountains, rocks, active volcanoes, and craters. Venus has a-lot of volcanoes. The largest volcano is Maat Mons. The density of Venus is 5.25 g/cm3. The size of Venus is similar to Earth. Some people call Venus Earths sister because of the size similarities. Venus has no moons unlike earth (Earth has one moon named Luna). Venus has wind speeds at hundreds of miles an hour.
Venus was named after the roman god of love, Venus. Venus’s normal temperature is about 850 degrees far in height. Therefore humans would not be able to survive on Venus without special protectors. Venus is so strange that its day is longer than its year. Venus has no water that humans know of. Venus takes 7.5 Earth months to revolve around the sun. It takes 8 months for Venus to rotate on its axis.
Venus has always been in the sky. Venus can be seen in the sunset in some parts of the western hemisphere. Venus is one of the brightest planets we can see. Some ancient cultures like the Mayans and the Aztecs could have seen Venus is the night time sky and early in the morning. The first Pearson to really examine Venus is Galileo Galilei in 1610. He takes most credit for the founding of Venus. Since so many people have seen Venus before Galileo’s time, it is extremely hard to know exactly who to give credit to for finding Venus.
Venus is made out of rock. Some people believe that Venus was an asteroid that made it into our solar system. There is a rumor that venus once held water. There are no facts to prove if Venus held or did not hold water. I do not believe that Venus held water because then it would not have the same reputation it has for being a dry rocky planet. If Venus did have water it would be very humid and steamy.
Venus has so many fun facts that make your eyes pop and your mouth drop. Venus makes you really wonder about our galaxies. Venus is so interesting, what I said is just scratching the surface. If Venus where any more interesting I may just have to visit some time.
